I will expand this later on to include a snowstorm as well, as well as the wind altering directions as seen in the SMW night style in Super Mario Maker 2.

Keep in mind that NPCs are not affected by this script.

Good job! I am looking forward complete version!
But maybe the effect of sand particles is too 'regular'……? I think you can make each of them have a different speed.
And to be honest, I have made a similar one before, though it's incomplete too and it has leaves particles effect instead of sand particles.

I don't know how to do that yet but that is a great idea. Before I try that though I need to finish this completely and then I can make add-ons for future versions of this script.

You can just use 'rnd' to set a range for speed, such as '1+1.5*rnd', which ranges from 1 to 2.5.
