So at the moment, making a chasing enemy, such as a Rip van Fish is not possible in a level which utilizes both above and under-water areas in the same section. Setting a Cheep Cheep etc, to chase would allow it to chase the player out of the water field and basically through the air, which looks odd to say the least.
My idea:
Chase setting for Aquatic enemies which is different to that of the Para-Troopa setting. When a fish reaches the edge of a water field it jumps into the air, but falls back into the water. The fish can still chase the player, however, upon exiting a water field, it cannot continue to swim, but resorts to jumping until such time as the player re-enters the water or defeats the fish. If the fish in question exist the water field from the left, right or bottom, it simply falls.
Chase settings for different enemies, should be able to act logically with other enviroments. For example, a land enemy such as a Para-Goomba or Para-Troopa should end their chase upon hitting water, or quicksand etc. and sink. Upon exiting the specific field, it should be able to resume its chase mode.
Also allowing any enemy to chase the player would be cool. For example, a Goomba or Shy Guy that could run after the player e.g. SMW2:YI Goombas would make for an interesting gimmick. You could get relentlessly chased by a frenzied Hammer Bros., Bob-Omb or heck, even Bowser.
