Since the SMBX starcoin graphic is taken from one of these super mario advance games I tried myself giving it a decent looking animation. Ingame however it did not really please me. Either it has too less frames or the animation is in a wrong order, I don`t know. Apart from that, how about giving the player the option to collect starcoins via thrown shells as like as in the new super mario bros games (I don`t know what else could be used to get it). | ||
Most thrown objects are usually able to collect Star Coins, Koopa Shells seem to be the default choice in that matter however. Even the Boomerang Suit from 3D Land could be used to pick them up. Personally I like this idea, though this could be more expanded upon as well, why limit ourselves to Star Coins, normal coins are another such thing that can be collected with other objects in the NSMB games.
Realistically though, it would probably be better on that note to allow some sort of function that enables a creator to have the ability to make NPCs interact with each other like in Mario Maker for instance. On the note of the Star Coin however, there are a few different versions of a spinning Star Coin in the Community GFX Pack. If you're not happy with your own, I'm sure there's one you can find in there that may help you on your quest to animate the Star Coin.  Squishy Rex's CGFX Pack v1.7
