I believe it is possible to create a continuation of SMBX-38A using the decompiled code adding new blocks, NPCs and power-ups without replacing anything else and even revamping some things.

As many others said, it's not the source code. So it won't play exactly like 38A.
Doesn't play SMBX that much anymore. Like to be on the forums though

It's easier to recreate 1.4.5 in assembly and C++, than to decompile the original version hahaha

Of course you would have to make it so that it's compatibility with 1.4.5 is as accurate as possible
