Moving layers with keyboard

I have in mind a lift which moves down automatically when the player stands above it and strikes the down key once. Also when the player presses the up key once, the lift goes up, both movements can move on a indefinite time.
Any suggestion where to start? I had no luck with it.

That camera movement on warps is suited for a Metroid-like game. As a Super Metroid fan, I found this really useful! Is the moving of the camera optional, or all the pipe warps will have this?

Is there a way to do something when the player recieves a hurt? For example: show a text saying "IT HITTED YOU!" after a goomba harms the player.

In tablets it could be the same body with less width, but for smartphones I think in a wide menu at the beggining and the same body but with smaller images and text...
