TheXTech also should work fine (it's the replacement of SMBX 1.3). SMBX-38A and vanilla SMBX 1.3 do use VB6 language for their work. TheXTech is the C++ port of vanilla SMBX 1.3 which does use of better API interfaces for the hardware acceleration.

Sent a next bugfix release, 1.3.2.3:

-Fixed a SIGFPE crash, caused by an attempt to load some custom effects
-Resolved the inability to grab vegetables normally, caused by an incorrect porting of logical expression

SMBX-38a For Chinese font yes. Vanilla SMBX and TheXTech (right now) are using raster font from a textures. PGE Engine does use of raster textures and TTF as a fallback.

Gears icon is on Windows builds and on executable itself. The SMBX icon is a part of assets, not a part of engine itself.
