Legacy Engine - is an alternate name of the SMBX Engine originally written in VB6 and later hacked by LunaDLL and then by LunaLua. The Legacy Engine was developed as part of SMBX game by Redigit and published in the 2009 year. Support and development of Legacy Engine were stopped by Redigit and then officially deleted from his site because C&D request by Nintendo because of copyright violation. Legacy Engine still is in use until PGE Engine, which must replace it, still be in development. Unlike Windows-only Legacy Engine, the new engine is cross-platform and able work on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X (since 2016 it is named as macOS), uses OpenGL rendering, and optimized use of resources (While Legacy Engine overloads CPU to 100%, new engine using near to 0%, in dependence from drivers and hardware).
