[Poll] An individual iceball sound at TheXTech's SMBX assets

Hi there! :)

Here is a little demo at TheXTech where I added the usage of two new sounds:
- Swooper's flapping
- Individual iceball sound, suggested by "Elf of H & L" with providing the sound file

The question: do you think the individual iceball sound is a good idea:good:, or it's bad:bads:? Or maybe you think it's better to use another  sound for the "SMBX" assets as an ice ball shoot sound?

The poll will go for 7 days max or it may finish earlier depending on the situation.

The video itself:

2-player co-op mode has not tested, so I can't known when 2 player (e.g. player 1: fire, player 2: ice)

I'll test that after my sleep, thanks for the tip! ;-)

Okay, just now I attached the two-player demo into the main post ;-)

In my opinion, it is better to leave the current sound as it fits perfectly with an ice flower costume. The retro style of the games remains intact and the game is more OG. This sound perfectly fits the speed of the character's movement. In my opinion, combining Mario's OG games with the new ones loses this "retro style" so we should stick to the old sound. Elf of H & L, some quote from people at the SMBX-38A discord server:

MrDoubleA wrote:I do like the idea of ice ball sound effects, but I've never liked the "modern mario sounds in smbx" thing

ERoid wrote:^ that's what I was saying
since the rest of the assets are 16-bit the iceball SFX doesn't feel quite at home
i think mario multiverse has a separate 16-bit iceball sound?

Wohlstand wrote:I would be happy to take it into my assets and record another video with it to show the difference
or maybe take it from other SNES games where character shoots with ice magic, etc?
I think the same, using modern Mario SFX among SNES-ish sounds, just a weird

So, there is a little request to provide some alternatives that will feel better among SNES-ish SFXes.
However, for the worst-case when the original fireball sound will be kept at the assets, the technical ability to add the individual iceball sound will be kept, for example, if you'll take the use of NSMBWii SFX pack and this iceball sound sill feel at the home then :)

BTW, in an attempt to provide the alternative iceball sound, MrDoubleA has found the freeze sound from the Yoshi Island that I tried to use for the NPC freezing process, so, look the demo:

Originally the iceball SFX is for my modern themed SFX Pack.

My OPL3 Iceball SFX.

There's another SFX for Breaking frozen enemy, found in Ladiesman217's YI Sampled Port, suitable for Breaking Frozen Enemy.

btw, as a little experiment, I tried to use Yoshi Island's music box sample, to make this:
Ice ball-1.ogg (9.99 KiB) Viewed 123 times

Mainly to make it more like SNES-ish. I did attempt to use SMW xylophone and SMW glockenspiel, but the result of all sucks :comando:
Seems this needs to tune a bit more... Or you may try to make something another on your side
but at least, this OPL-generated sound works good in my opinion :good:

BTW, at my I do have the SMBX OPL pack https://archive.wohlsoft.ru/Sounds/SMBX_OPL/ I made a while ago, your OPL iceball would come into it ;-)
