My suggestion is a special event to be added that gives Toad/Peach/Link inventory box.

If this were added, it would kind of take away the point of Mario and Luigi only having item boxes, as mostly everyone would use them so their custom HUDs would support them. But if you mean keep the heats, then that might be of use.

You can stick with the heart system but some people like me need them to have itemboxes for our levels or episodes.

Sounds good, but what if you decide to trigger it with a non-autostart event while playing the level? How is the hub going to change? There might be many other glitches as well.
