GFX expansion feature doesn't work in Shoes

I'm using GFX with a shoe and when the player gets in, it switches back to its default form:

I think this also happens with the npc that has to do with char(x).itemslot and GFX.

The shoe is a hardcoded gfx if I remember correctly.
