char(1).nomove doesn't let keypress work

When char(1).nomove is set to 1, it won't detect any inputs. For example:

char(1).nomove = 1
do
   if keypress(-14) then   
      call showmsg("up key pressed")
   end if
   call sleep(1)
loop


Won't work. Can you please make let "keypress" work (with player's keys) when "nomove" is set? I don't want have to use ASCII characters since it would cause some inconsistencies.
