Unable to connect multiple joysticks

Hello. I would like to report a problem I recently got.

I wanted to play SMBX 1.4.4 with a friend while using both a joystick. The problem is that the game doesn't recognize more than one joystick.

Both joysticks were plugged in, recognized by Windows. I even tried them on another version of SMBX and they were both recognized, but not on 1.4.4. I always got a single joystick, and the only other input option I had was the keyboard.

Thank you for looking on it. It's not really a game we can enjoy on a keyboard x.=.x (Well, I don't judge those who do...)
