The episode is mainly based on SMW-Style and we’ve tried our best to polish every level carefully to make sure the whole episode is interesting. It means each level owns its feature, just have a try to see what are exactly in the levels!
The episode adds a lot of SMW things! Triangle Slope? Bonus House? Switch Palace? Koopalings? Remade SMW Enemies those are absolutely original to Vanilla SMW? We have all of them! Also, we plan to add CAPE-FEATHER in future version, now conducting the test.
A simple preview for the episode Expedition – Astral Fragments!
You may ask, what's new of the episode Expedition – Astral Fragments?
Firstly, we added two collectable elements, Colorful Stars & Black Stars .
Colorful Stars:
Colorful stars exist in certain levels, we have 6 kinds of stars in total: purple, blue, cyan, green, yellow and orange. By collecting all of them, you'll have access to explore a secondary storyline. Now you can collect 3 of them at level 2-2 (purple), level 4-6 (blue) and level 5-2 (cyan). The function of colorful stars will be finished in the future version.
Black Stars:
Black stars only exist in castles. Sometimes they're not really obvious if you don't pay attention to. By collecting all of them, you'll have access to explore the Special World. Now you can collect 6 of them! (PS: Collecting black stars is absolutely a challenge!) As the same, the function of black stars will be finished in the future.
Secondly, we fully used the World-Item System of SMBX-38A. Let's see what we have now:
Whistle:
By finishing certain tasks or challenges, you'll get whistles. The whistle allows you to travel across the different worlds just like SMB3. We added 2 whistles in the episode at previous version. But I don't suggest you to use in this demo if you wanna play all levels. Because the whistle-warp is irreversible!
Hammer:
Hammer is in the Future Plan List. It works as SMB3 does. You can break roadblocks on your path to go to another new place. (In Future Ver.)
Anchor / Music Box & Moving Levels:
Do you still remember how hammer bros and airships act in SMB3? Certainly, they move to other places if you failed but when you play music box or use anchor, they'll stop moving. This feature would also be shown in the future version of Expedition. Just a matter of time! (In Future Ver.)
Thirdly, huge switch buttons on the world map must be a great feature of the episode!
We set up 4 different switch buttons on the world map, each of them owns a certain color. (Chocolate, Pink, Mint, Purple). By pushing them, related switch blocks will be affected like SMW. You can find 3 of them at the present version!
