Any unofficial but reliable documents, changelogs, screenshots are welcome.
You can freely edit this post or insert them to the archive.

Teascript-vb documentation: https://wohlsoft.ru/pgewiki/Category:TeaScript.vbs

Up to now, all bugs which reported in correct format have been fixed, you can continue to report bugs, they will be fixed in a while if you report them in correct format, there are lots of good examples can teach you how to report them in bug report forum.
Of course, you can ignore these rules and report them casually, or keep silence and waste your time on wait a 'perfect' version, I don't care that.

Anyway, I can fix a bug in a few minutes if you reported it correctly, much shorter than reply those wrong formatted posts, and I don't want to waste more time on reply. so, if I can't repeat the bug you reported, I will replace the Topic icon of your post to 'Green Question Mark', that means you need to upload more details(level files, scripts, videos, images etc) if you really want to the fix it, after enough details are added, the Topic icon will be reset. If I think what you reported IS NOT a bug, the Topic icon will be replace by 'Blue Infomation Mark', you can also upload more details(to show how it works in previous version) if you still have question.

The online video/image hosting sites in the following list(Incomplete, but appeared in bug report forum) are inaccessible in my region, you'd better consider this before report bug:

Image hosting: Imgur, Discord CDN, Dropbox, Postimg.cc

Be careful! Some antiviruses may detect "smbx.exe" as a "heruristic/generic trojan". It's a false positive caused by heruristic scanners of antiviruses. If you got an antivirus report like "HEUR", "Generic", don't worry, it's one of possible false positives caused by a heruristic scanner. If you getting alarm of your antivirus, feel free to send the smbx.exe to your antivirus software vendor as a false positive to let them verify it and make an update that will fix this false positive. Avast Antivirus also gives "DREP" alert which means "Unknown reputation". It's paranoia regarded to rare files. It should go away after ~10+ downloads on various devices.

About bug reporting
Generally, the bugs will be fixed if you properly reported them and they can be reproduced, if the "bug" you reported hasn't been fixed, that may be because:
  • You didn't report them properly. You should report a bug with instructions, pictures or videos explaining how to trigger it, and more detailed instructions are preferred if the triggering process is complex. If a bug is always happening in a specific level, you should upload the level file when reporting.
  • What you reported is not a bug. You found some features didn't work ONLY in your level but works fine in other level, why do you think this is a bug?
  • You found a feature differ from what you expect, and it has no help to your episode, so you think this is a "bug", why do you think so?
  • You reported too many bugs and I forget to fix some of them.
If you insist on reporting bugs in your own way(didn't report them properly), your report will be ignored.

Bigadre wrote:I mean Why is there a Punishment for Fans?

I asumme that's because he doesn't like people making bug reports and ideas & suggestions in the wrong format. People suggesting an idea that breaks the current features, people not providing graphic resources (for power-ups and custom of sprites), people suggesting a lot of NPCs that can be done easily through scripting and people suggesting something that is [i]already implemented (I see this point a bit unfair since we didn't know about all the features because of the minigames, the same with undocumented functions). Regarding bug reports he doesn't like people saying things like "hey i got runtime error pls fix it" and don't
explainning how to reproduce it, people that treats as a bug a feature (because they don't know how to use it properly), and people reporting his level/episode is broken and not uploading it. He may be got tired of all of this and started to hidding functions (probably because he thought some wouldn't be that useful or he tought people wouldn't know how to use them properly).

Of course, that's not the right way to deal with these users. This problem would have been avoided if he had just ignore them instead of feeling the need of applying a punishment.

Aaand the software has had it's work suspended.

Great job, 38A. Punishing your community for improving your improvable engine.

At this rate, I'm really not looking forward to 1.4.5 as it seems as if tons of useful content will be randomly removed for ''teaching a lesson to the hackers'' and the community. That is if 38A even releases it.
Good gosh, whatever happened? I actually thought that this version was better than 2.0, and that was only because I refused to adapt to the new version's layout. But I don't think I'll want to use the engine of someone who insults others for very poor reasons and cuts content when I have the possibility of playing something made by a large, hard-working and not necessarily rude team. Plus, they offered to collab with you to create an even greater version of SMBX, yet you refused and insulted them. Why? This still remains a mystery, but it's not with this kind of behavior that you'll gain a community. (Not that shoving 2.0 down everyone's throat is a good idea either.)

That being said, this is a somewhat biased rant on your attitude that pretty much everyone has made, but our point still stands.
I'm assume you're just going to react violently and ruin even further the SMBX engine to prove a point.

Staying on topic, there's not much to say about the engine. The mini-games are utterly useless and just reduce your level creating capability. Why do you think people hack them out? The physics are somewhat bizarre and can easily break apart.
I don't know if this is just me, but my FPS can drop ridiculously fast from 55 to 10. On the other hand, SMBX2 runs mostly smoothly with rare and low FPS drops.
Honestly, if you want people to stop ''insulting your work'', you might as well stop ruining your game and relationship with your loyal community.

And I can't speak for the other devs but I, for one, don't appreciate the reputation we've gotten of hating SMBX38A and shoving SMBX2 down peoples' throats, so could y'all please, idk, stop going into 38A spaces and shoving SMBX2 down peoples' throats?

Just a little reminder: "Troubleshoting" subforum was renamed to "Bug Report". Since we will keep this section especifically for bug reporting, I'll be moving some topics to the general subsection (like general questions and problems that aren't actually bugs)

From now, any bug report or idea & suggestion that doesn't follow the rules will be locked.

38A you should not take it that way because of the ignorant, look imagine this;these may be children of 8 or 10 years and you disturbing self in vain, or who knows can be someone who hates your project does this on purpose (direct or indirectly) and what do you do? punish all, if I know it is very disgusting that someone hackee what you do with dedication.

A programmer must be a person very open to the possibilities, and someone mature, and you are a great programmer.
Programming NPCs in SMBX-38A is fun:

Old user but lost my account info, so new acct.

In response to the 38a issue:

It is an excellent project, and got me wildly excited to complete my dream game, but the lack of clarity and confusion made me delay the game for over a year.

I put a lot of work in to designing a 120 level SMW mod with the 38a engine. That is my contribution to the team. But if I couldnt adjust Mario's hitbox, the mod would be pointless. You can check my older sgwyspeedrcr posts trying to figure out if this were possible.

The lack of clarity, plus the lack of communication from 38a, made me decide to wait before I invested more time in my project. That was over a year ago.

I mean this honestly and without any desire to insult you. I left 38a and joined the Mari0 community because it has more open and feedback-oriented leadership and I knew I could invest 6 months of my time and it not be wasted. Open source is a plus too, but not required.

Your minigame feature is pretty damn cool but it has some faults.

- lack of clarity on rewards, how to find the game, and how to beat the game. You dont need to necessarily explain everything in 100% detail, but the lack of clarity on all three made it difficult for anyone to understand what to do.

- lack of communication from 38a. Honestly, you could have better capitalized on the hype and building a community. You could have had weekly updates with hints on how to discover, beat, and collect from minigames and stayed on top of the hype. Instead it just fizzled because of lack of clarity.

I mean its been 2.5 years and the minigame post was probably 60% accurate. Not that we didnt try, but we were unable to figure it out and did not want to lose too much development time on our projects.

- high difficulty. Smbx 1.4.4 is a mario program, and the minigames really demanded their own game because they had a lot of thought put into them. But since they are a side item, the skill cap should have been lowered.

I work for an international companys training area. Tests are always easier to develop than to take. I can make some badass tests, but what is challenging for a test creator will be nigh impossible for a test taker. Because as a creator you get to make the rules. I see it all the time at my job.

Why did you do the minigames? If you wanted to build minigame software, you may have done better making it the center piece of software you release. If you wanted to generate hype within the smbx community, you probably should have been more involved as a community leader. If you wanted to feel superior and reward only those as smart as you, I guess you did it correctly. But the reality is that its a big world out there and no one has an obligation to stick around or play by your rules.

It is just reality, bro.

Anyways, I may pick SMBX back up because I can finally make those SMW sprites. That is AWESOME. But since you seem very angry, I may stay with Maurice in Mari0 because his Mari2 is coming out soon and he's a much more engaged leader. Weekly updates are better than one every 2 years. And honestly, the things I have to pull teeth for in your program take less than a minute in his.

I wish you and the community well.

No one is angry at you, but we just want to build mario games. I dont think theres any major 1.4.4 episode out there after 3 years. Not on the level of the Invasion. That should alarm you if you wanted people to... you know... build an episode.

I thought he gave different reasons earlier. He probably was just upset at the moment to be honest.

I understand your decision to move to a better community.
From the first moment that SMBX 1.4 came out I was very excited. My life started to change thanks to this game: I have met really cool people, introduced myself me again into smbx (a game that I was about to leave) and got into the world of programming. I do not say it very often, but I just can say thank you so much, 5438A38A to dedicating 5 years (if I'm not mistaken) developing it and your hard work.

In the beginning I was always very optimistic, I supported SMBX 1.4 as much as I could. In the first days 5438A38A also used to be pretty cool, he answered questions from the community (even if it was very rarely), the patches arrived so fast that they could even get 3 patches a week, the updates were always punctual every six months and he had some communication with WohIstand. My point is that he was in touch with the community with his ways. Nowadays however, he has become completely inactive, which makes the community discourage slowly, and not only because of this but because lack of developer's flexibility. I do not blame him for the delay in version 1.4.5 since, after all he does not really have a obligation to keep it and it's not making profits. (In my opinion, if he ever want to stop the development it I just ask that please don't leave us with an uncomplete version like redigit it (even he could release SMBX 1.4.5 with his current progress and with fixing bugs people reported, it would be enough).

I'm in doubt if minigames were really added as a punishment. I knew that the minigames were originally made to hide features that would not be really useful (one example is the colorful texts), however there are two in particular that I found really sweet: the arrays and player-gfxoffset. There is something that I find interesting, why any of the new functions are not blocked through minigames? For example, the tileset editor is a very useful feature and it's not blocked (but it could be), and why are there minigames that are so easy to solve? they are a clear indication that he wants someone to solve them, and, in addition, by playing mini-games the player would be rewarded with daily-tips and there's a way to reduce the difficulty of them (as a daily tip says, however I don't know how) all without mentioning that there were few secret functions they were added in SMBX 1.4.4 (I think only the blendmode although I'm not completely sure). My point is that I do not think the mini-games have been to apply a punishment, it is not clear to me what the true purpose was, maybe it started as something else... anyway.

5438A38A, I really hope that you improve your mood, and I'm not saying this because of the releasing SMBX 1.4.5 (in fact it has nothing to do), I would only like you to give us a clearer answer of the plans you have for the future of your game. I have some very specific questions:
-Does it bother you to make ideas and suggestions? (This leaves me confused since you said "They paid no price and made no contributions and make a ton of suggestions.", I do not know if it is a misunderstanding but I get the feeling that the suggestions are not welcome.)
-Will you continue to accept suggestions and ideas if they take into account the guidelines you gave?
-Does any use of the secret functions really make the map broken or the game will not recognize them instead? for example, if you I blendmode, will the game not recognize it or will it drop me an error?

I know this is not the best moment to do it, but I can't find a moment either. I'd only like to request one thing if you allow me, please do not delete the function of the arrays in SMBX 1.4.5 since it is an extremely useful function and I use it in many scripts. I can accept the fact that you delete the other 13 functions, but this function is quite important. Anyway, I hope that you can improve your mood and that the best days of this version are still ahead. For my part I'll be giving my support to SMBX 1.4 at least for a bit more.

These are great points. I was starstruck when Smbx 1.4 first was accessible to us. It felt like a dream because everything I wanted was in the game. I really appreciate the amount of work that went into creating it, 38a.

And yeah, its ok that it takes another 5 years to develop a new patch. Life is busy and you have so much to do outside of it.

I think everyone here wants to achieve what Lz Xzit has. The ability to code a 100% fully functional cape mario. And helping create and sustain (I think) a +1000 member Facebook community. I would love to develop this with 38a's SMBX.

I dont know if you are familiar but the Facebook SMBX COMMUNIDAD LITE is probably the strongest example of 38a communuty. Probably 70% of community is constantly posting, sharing and commenting.

We all want to keep 38a smbx going. I know you may not see it, but open access to the array and hitboxes detection help make your program better and stronger and more popular.

I honestly do not think that 38A is thinking things right, because ... punish users damaging their own game? I do not think it's a smart decision. In addition, there are functions that are very useful as the GFX Off-set editor and a thing of scripts that some are saying is very useful (although I do not know anything about scripts). If 38A wants to convert their level editor, into a publisher limited by minigames impossible to solve, let them do it! it's just going to make users discourage to create levels ...

(This message was redeemed by me for being very "immature")

I use Windows 10, and I try to open the game, but it gets removed.

I have re-transfered smbx about 15 times and I am starting to lose it.

Are you fucking serious?
RocketRacoon14 wrote:is seriously? is seriously?! I had left smbx 38A for like a year, and now I'm inspired to finally make my dream Mario game but ... really? Suspended? This is the last straw! I can not believe that 54A38A38A eliminates the 13 hidden functions in version 1.4.5, I mean why? There are tools such as the GFX OFF-SET EDITOR that are very useful, but apart from the fact that I do not have enough neurons to burn, are you going to eliminate all the functions ?! I am very disappointed ... to such an extent that I am reconsidering changing version ...
First of all, chill the fuck out. You still can get 1.4.4. Second, good English, bro. Third, making the text bigger and red doesn't make you any more threatening. It actually makes you look less threatening. It makes you immature.

It might be because of a false positive by your antivirus. This has happened to me as well. Just allow the application and try again. My antivirus removes anything that it thinks has a virus.
