Specifically, the 1.4.5 version of smbx 38a stopped working on my computer. 1.4.4 works fine last I tested, but 1.4.5 just doesn't open. Attempting to open the 1.4.5 launcher doesn't do anything (other than create a background process that soon gets shut down, alongside a background windows error reporting), while opening a level directly shows the smbx window but entirely black, which closes after a few seconds. I have tried quite a number of solutions, such as reinstalling smbx 1.4.5, renaming the executable file, adding administrator rights, turning off my antivirus (Avast) shields, excluding the smbx folder on the same antivirus, executing in compatbility mode and whatnot. One information that could be helpful is that before it broke, I was using two instances of smbx, since I wasn't satisfied with an episode I was making so I decided to remake it from zero. Additionally, I tried running smbx on my Virtual Machines of Windows 7 and 8.1, where the level editor window crashes the launcher, but "Start Game" and running levels directly works fine (albeit, with horrible framerate). I can provide as many helpful screenshots as needed, but my (main) computer is not in english, so while I will add translated text, might not be 100% accurate to the displayed text. | ||
Hello! I do have a question: do you have a video driver properly installed? What video card you do have? The SMBX-38A requires the proper GPU support to work. It won't work in software mode for the rest of case. On my Russian systems the game works just fine on various things: Wine, Windows 7, Windows 10, etc.

I believe my graphics driver is properly installed, as it couldn't find for new updates (its custom installed from Acer, so the Intel site says to not update). While for graphics card, I have Intel® HD Graphics 620 (integrated) and a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX. I tried running smbx38a 1.4.5 on both of them again, but same result (launcher not opening). The question is same as for DesperateTempAccount, what hardware specs you do have and what antivirus you do run? Do you have video driver properly installed? (You can check the fact by opening the context menu on "My computer" icon and choosing "Manage", then select the "Manager of hardware" and expand the list of video devices. I believe you meant this, right? The purple text is translated, I chose to only translate the parts I deemed relevant, but I searched that tab pretty far and I couldn't find a piece of text that includes "VGA". I could just have overlooked as I skimmed through it, but 3 capital letters tend to call my attention, so I don't think it is a graphical issue as it used to work perfectly fine for the longest time. Also a little update, I have a second computer to work on SMBX 1.4.5 38a, so while fixing it on my main would be extremely nice, it is not as needed anymore. El juego funcionaba de maravilla, un día simplemente dejo de funcionar misteriosamente

Hello, i've been dealing with a similar problem with smbx 1.4.5 and i have no idea why as my video driver is properly installed and up to date and the problem doesn't seem to stem from my anti virus either as far as i can tell | ||
