Already well aware of how it looks... what part of "Expect it to change over time" did you not get?
Also, this is not a Mario game really... i'm making something a little more original.. originally i was posting screen shots on the SMBX.org site but it's down.
My project stars a charecter tenatively called "super kid", and the project is called Adventures in Dreamland, this main player visits dreamland and helps other video game heros of the NES and SNES era escape Nightmares they're having.. each world is based on a different classic hero's nightmare.. one world has you visiting the Nightmares of Ryu from the NES Ninja Gaiden, helping him wake up from said nightmare.. and it continues on like that with other classic heros from gamings past.
The main focus was supposed to be the player sprite and tiles... not really the background.
The background is a left over from the old tile set i was using.
And that's realistic to you?! O.o Looks more like a canvas painting to me.
The game is a Kirby's Dreamland setting for the most part, not Mario.. i am only using SMBX engine to make something more original.

See? Kirby's World.....
Here....

Better?
It's still a work in progress...
I just wish there was a way to have multiple panning backgrounds.. maybe a foreground scrolling in front... think Yoshi's Island level 1.
