SMBX 2.0/lunalua? due it takes a lot of CPU I'll give you some of my super duper secret tips:
1.) If you will record, use always fullscreen mode, it optimizes a lot the game. 2.) Disable frameskip. 3.) Convert all the graphics into PNG format if the graphics of the level are in gif format. It helps a lot. I have some other useful tricks, tell me if this it's enough or not. ^^
Don't use Bandicam on slow machine, I suggesting you to try "Open Broadcasting Software" thing. Together with disabled "Windows Aero", it will record with much less lag and resulted video is ready to be sent to YouTube

When I record in fullscreen, the video is black. Do you know a solution???? I want to record SMBX 1.4, can you give more hints? I need more! @Wohlstand: I will give OBS a try Added after 1 hour 47 minutes:
I get this error with OBS, I think that I will give up
Ah I thought you were talking about SMBX 2.0/lunalua, I was going to edit my post but was too late here. :P
Open the file "config.cfg" which is in the main folder with Notepad++ or notebloc. In "OcuppyWholeCPU" change it to "True", the same with "DisableFrameSkip". I don't know if this makes a difference but you could try to record using Fullscreen mode. Regarding the black screen, I guess you're talking of lunalua here huh? right click the smbx.exe > compatibility mode for > windows XP service pack 3. It fixes some weird problems for a weird reason. In case that's not enough, I have some other tips, if you want hear them send me a PM.
What should I do? I'm lost
For me, I use Action! and I can record my game into 60 fps (If you have a VERY slow computer, then I don't know what to say). Try it... https://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html

He just has no installed drivers for his video card, (therefore is a possible reason of basic theme shown instead Aero). You must install a driver for a video card (If you don't know WHICH video card you have, try dig Everest program which will show models of installed hardware, then copy it and find a driver for your video card and install it). Usually on NVidia or on AMD official sites you always can choice model of video card and take a driver for it.
