This game is not a SMBX Episode that you can drag and drop into your worlds folder. Rather, the game is built in SMBX's default graphics and stuff entirely. It's no hassle to set it up though. Just download, unzip and run the exe file.
I did this because loading all those 8 bit graphics caused a lot of lag. It was because the game was loading all the default graphics and all the custom graphics for each level. So setting them as the default graphics bypassed this issue.

About
This is a project I made then forgot about that I originally called "Return to Retroville". I discovered it on my PC, beefed it up, and made this SMBX episode.
Its a game where Mario goes back in time to his 8-bit games. You can also learn about Mario's (unofficial) past and (unofficial) answers to questions about the Mushroom Kingdom. Aside from that, this beta is 10 solid levels of 8-bit action and possibly more if I decide to continue working on this. Also, any feedback on this is appreciated.

I don't plan to make the final game with the legacy editor. I'll probably use SMBX 1.4.5 though I'm still learning how it works and been having trouble with custom intros and hardcoded gfx so idk.
Plot
It's a direct sequel to Super Mario World (Super Mario Bros 5?). After saving the princess once again, Mario decides to relax in a town called Tanooki village. Some time later, a house appears and 8 bit baddies flood out of it.
Is it Bowser? Is it someone else? Who knows, even I probably don't know.
