For SMBX2 that can be easily fixed: edit data/PGE/configs/SMBX2 Integration/main.ini and change "api-version" with 42, then, notification should disappear.

You do have an old build (of January 2021). Try to run the data/PGE/update_pge.cmd script to pull an updated version and try again.

To avoid performance and memory usage issues, it needs to make using the graphics in 1x1 format without being saved as 2x upscaled. Redigit had used 2x-upscaled graphics mainly because of GDI limits and his laziness in this term.
