I also wanted to point out that you could use PGE's GIFS2PNG converter to use old gfx in 1.4.4.

You could try using the Player Settings in the editor to set an X and Y offset, but I'm not sure

I found another way to crash the editor.
While opening a level, open up the scripts menu really fast and you'll get a run-time error.

.map files are read-only. Put the folder in your worlds folder and SMBX should read the file.

The cape feather is a nice idea, but it would need a lot of sprites and coding(?) to work without scripts.
