Okay, found out what was wrong with it. I needed to add in a delay of 0.1 seconds in the Level - Start event.

If you got that Mario gfx from SMBX 2.0's costumes, you need the .ini files with it- but SMBX-38A can't read those yet, so you're (kind of) screwed there.

oh... I found out why it wasn't working. If it has an event for "Touch" then it will not work.

I think I accidentally forgot to put an SMB3 star at the end of my level... :unexpectedly: (Well, it did come right out of my episode that uses SMB1 flag exits)

Effects of patch 2 do not take effect

So I have some weird problem where the effects of Patch 2 of 1.4.4 do not take effect (e.g. flagpole not working with world map). I have tried reinstalling the game a few times but that doesn't solve anything. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Currently it is impossible to do it, but you can make the SMB1 hammer/fire graphic invisible and not hurt the player.

I also wanted to point out that you could use PGE's GIFS2PNG converter to use old gfx in 1.4.4.
