I'm having a problem with 1.4.4 right now, where the SMBX file to play the game deleted itself, and now any time I re-download it, the file deletes itself. Can anybody help me?

I think the problem is with your antivirus , just allow smbx in it and you should be fine.

Why is this getting flagged?

Post #403by thevividyoshi » 2 Apr 2017, 18:14

This keeps getting flagged by Avast for being malware-gen, and Virustotal is showing many other virus alerts. Why is this? I like this game, and it works very well, but I don't want to run it on my main computers because of these results...

Just disable your anti-viruses when you download it, they immediately think that way because of the exe. file, and just so you know, SMBX isn't a virus. If you can, add SMBX or other exe. files to some sort of exception list.

How do I do this on Mcafee?
Also it's only 1.4.4, 1.4.3, and all the other ones I have work perfectly fine, but it's just this one

1.4.4 gave me a virus I had to mash F1 to get my pc to boot up then win 10 locked my out due to a security threat on my machine. The virus scanners do not lie, where 1.4.4 is stored is infected and needs to be cleaned. I will not be using it or doing any play-throughs with that version of smbx until the problem is fixed.

Which Download Link did you download from? Because I can give you a virus-free one.

Try this link as a download http://wohlsoft.ru/docs/SMBX_38A/smbx38a-1-4-4.7z
All download links in the front page have no virus. That error you got must have been by something else. The reason SMBX38A gets flagged as a virus is because it uses PECompact to package the game, and programs that use PECompact are commonly flagged as a virus.

My antivirus did flag 1.3/2.0 and stand alone LunaLua as a virus.

One time Windows Defender decided to "remove some malware" when I was downloading 1.3, so I had to turn my anti-virus off for it to let me download 1.3.

Patches 5 and 6 of 1.4.3 are flagged by Yandex Browser's hardcoded antivirus, so I had to download the 4th patch of 1.4.3, back when there wasn't 1.4.4. Luckily 1.4.4 didn't get flagged.
Totally not an edited-from-a-comic phrase

The reason why is VERY important to avoid usage of packers (PGE for now is no more uses UPX and distributing without any packers. The reasons are: slower application startup (you can simply check by any execution meters like bash's time command (time <any command>), on Windows can be done with MSYS), and offten false positives from sides of antiviruses). The proc of open source application is easier way to give proof of program safety.

Google have flagged that file as infected:

On VirusTotal lots of antiviruses are thinking that file is infected:

Will this game ever be open-source? Also, I think that secret developer things should be removed and be on 38A's PC only because he is the developer.

I don't think 5438A38A is going to come back to their project and make changes to it any time soon, they probably have more important things that they're working on.

Questions

Post #416by IT.GAMER » 10 Apr 2017, 7:46

1. Very much I wait, when the question with a drawing will be solved. Squares are gray, I do not see the NPC. And I do not want to go back to version 1.3. Tried 1.4.3, I liked it, but there are jambs.

2. In 1.3 at the starting level (logo) runs about 5 different characters. Is it possible to do so in version 1.4.4?

The game doesn't have viruses! The reason SMBX38A gets flagged as a virus is because it uses PECompact to package the game, and programs that use PECompact are commonly flagged as a virus.
