Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

Thanks, Kevsoft. Good thing that's even possible. So, uh, i filled in the "exit program" string, but the thing in the menu still says "Uitgang". Any known reason why that would happen? EDIT: Checked the thing. It still uses the regular "exit" string (for me at least). D...

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

I decided to stop procrastinating for long enough to get this on my screen:

Image

I think the error message here translates to it can't find the drive, but i'm not sure.

Is there anything i'm doing wrong? Should i preface it with C:\ instead of X:\?

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

Okay, so i tried lupdate.exe, and it very briefly shows this.

And by very briefly, i mean very, very briefly. Like a split-second. I had to time it just right to get this screenshot.

So, what now?

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

Thanks, Kevinsoftware.

Is there a way to just use the translation file i'm working on with the new string? Because i'm not really that keen on starting over again after having translated most of it.

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here. The "Exit" string in the "MainWindow" thingy is used (at least) three times. Two times in the "Warps" cubicle-thing referring to an actual exit, and one time in the "File" drop-down menu as a button for exiting the prog...

Re: More forum language packs

Okay, i just switched to Dutch, and i'm already noticing the "not something strings"[sic].

How do i do the translations? Do i just use QtLinguist for them?

Corrupt-A-Wish

This is perhaps the quintessential forum game. In my opinion it's also one of the most fun ones to play. Corrupt-A-Wish is a game where someone posts a wish, and you "grant" it, but with an unexpected, unpleasant twist to it. And then you make your own wish for others to corrupt. How To Pl...

(You know, i kinda wish we could've just gone with the vending machine setup. Seeing the word "poops" in every single post (and then having to type it myself) is rather unsettling to me.)

Re: Changes & What to Expect?

I just wanna said, that the forum should still represent a platformer engine and shouldn't have too much "nintendo" in it.... We have this thing, don't we? http://wohlsoft.ru/docs/Sketches/SpriteTests_2.png It's pretty obvious from this that the Russian guys are fairly good at making spri...

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

I've stumbled across a bit of a problem. The text on your average Dutch "About" button is "Over {name of program}", where {name of program} is... the name of the program (e.g. Over Google Chrome). We do it like that because in Dutch there's no way to say "About" like th...

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

Thanks for posting that updated version. I was typing a reply to a PM and i typed it in this thread, and i was gonna post it, but then the "new post has been made" text showed up. Anyways, http://i.imgur.com/3XznFKN.png I am not sure what to think of the fact that the Dutch language is rep...

It wasn't criticism. It was just a small observation that i pointed out.

And did you really type (and/or copy-paste) that quote? You know, the full reply page has quote buttons.

(Also, i'm gonna try not to derail this thread any further.)

What's with the talking through edit reasons? I'm not saying you should stop (i'm not saying you shouldn't, either), but it's fairly inconsistent and unnoticeable.

Re: Translating PGE Project into other languages

I would've offered to do the English one as well, but i thought it would be better to have someone translate it from Russian, a language Wohlstand would be a lot better at, so as to have some more context to work with, and for Wohlstand to more easily be able to provide said context. Then again, wha...
